The Nest Collective acknowledges the support of Help Musicians UK (Formally the Musicians Benevolent Fund), British Underground and Institute of Composing to present this seminar series for emerging folk and acoustic artists.
The events will feature a two act concert featuring the absolutely finest selected artists in the wider folk realm and an early evening ‘artist needs’ aimed panel discussion focusing on the issues concerning professional and semi pro musicians..
Hot Feet: Formed and based in Stroud, Gloucestershire, Hot Feet may be partly inspired by their rural surroundings, but their eclectic music hints at a darker and more complex world than the pastoral paradise you might expect. After the success of their debut EP, Wood House, the band are soon set to be out on the road again with their second release, Mist Is Dust.
Bridie Jackson and The Arbour: Bridie Jackson & The Arbour are a Newcastle quartet of folk-influenced musicians; creating works of haunting beauty, both sparse and detailed. With rich vocal harmonies and subtle string arrangements, they are led by Bridie’s
remarkable voice and evocative wordplay, at once dark and playful, joyous and melancholic.
The showcase will be preceded by a musician targeted seminar about making it in the music business headed by Peter Conway from Peter Conway Management .
This seminar is free to attend. RSVP here if you would also like to attend the seminar 5.30pm to 7.30pm
